Trails of Discovery
Would you like to find out more about art, culture and history in your area? You can do this and share your knowledge with others by creating a Trail of Discovery.
Your subject might be an historic building, a garden, museum, place of worship, railway branch line, town or village, and you could be part of a small team or just work with a friend.
The trails encourage interest in an engaging way for people of all ages and can also be adapted for use by children with additional learning needs and people living with memory loss.
No experience is necessary to start a trail, just interest and enthusiasm!
Recently our members have developed new trails for children in various local churches, including Shoreham, Chevening, Shipbourne, Kemsing, Westerham and Plaxtol. We are completing a Children’s Trail at Ightham.
We have also completed two Heritage Trails at St Giles, Shipbourne, exploring the lives of two families contacted with the church, the Cazalets and the Vanes, through family portraits. The Arts Society Sevenoaks has also sponsored two exhibitions held at St Giles Church, one exploring the Cazalets at Fairlawne, the other 175 years of the Vane Family at Fairlawne.
